I too am a Janome women - I have a simple machine but it fitted the budget and does most jobs satisfactorily - my expertise needs to grow rather than the machine improve. My mum wants me to share in a long arm set up, but I agree with your comments, linking them to computers removes the craft expertise for me. And the expense is large. Thanks for sharing.Chloehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04228284188725649579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541658462076259150.post-70391665242263068712011-10-16T08:24:09.380-07:002011-10-16T08:24:09.380-07:00I agree completely! I want to do my quilts from start to finish and programming a long arm to do your quilting, or having someone else do it, just takes away from the art and self satisfaction that I did it all myself. I am in the market for a new machine myself. I have a Singer 500a which was top of the line in its day. i did research, and when it came out, the price of it was equivelant of about $2400 dollars today. So I am giving myself permission to spend about that much.I am looking at the Janome 7700. Can't wait to get it. I have to wait until tax time :( But, I am having a blast trying out Leah Day's designs. I even came up with one of my own;)Danih03https://www.blogger.com/profile/06038011201802847978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541658462076259150.post-80611341489060635982011-09-30T12:59:21.351-07:002011-09-30T12:59:21.351-07:00Glad to read your comments on short arm quilting. ...Glad to read your comments on short arm quilting. I too was saved by Leah Day. I was in a bit of a funk before that lucky day. (no punn intended). I had all of these tops and thought the only way that they will ever get quilted is to have a longarm. They are beyhond my pocket book to say the least and I live in a house too small to have one. Then I stumbled onto Leah's site and also Patsy Thompson's site it is worth a look) around the same time. Glory! I was so excited and still am. Practising Leah's designs when ever I can. I am looking forward to reducing my pile of tops this winter for sure.
Love your little "finalist" quilty. That is how I got to read your blog. Keep going and improving and above all HAVE FUN!
DonnaGramma Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00117963096429818062noreply@blogger.com
